I have been teaching for many years. I love to read and enjoy teaching children to love
reading. I have a B.S. in Education from Indiana University, M.S. in Reading from Indiana University and M.S. in Learning
Disabilities from Marycrest College.

I will be teaching Religion and Literacy skills. That means Reading, Writing, Word
Work.
We will be using the Daily 5 which gives some
responsibility to the children to practice the skills they choose to increase their learning. They will learn to 1. Read to
themselves for enjoyment and information.2. They will do Word Work to increase their skills and knowledge of words both
sight and phonetically. 3. Work on listening skills as they hear Reading by others increases fluency and comprehension.
4. Work on Writing is practice using skills they are taught to write sentences and paragraphs. Finally, 5. is Reading with
a partner of their choice. This increases fluency and helps both partners.
I will be giving several skill lessons daily for the children to practice. The children will also be in
Reading groups with me daily.

Our Goal is to help create independent readers and learners. This independent work gives the Teacher time to
help individual students and groups of students with skills.We are using the 4 iPod Touches which we got via a McElroy
Grant. I have added many reading apps for the students to use every week. The goal is to increase reading and phonics skills
by a fun practice format.
